Abstract

The article aims to promote discussion about the types of domestic and family violence that women have suffered in their affective relationships with their partners and/or partners and how the telenovela “Segundo Sol” brings this relationship. Therefore, the research is divided into conceptual and documental. In this context, we seek to address the theoretical foundations on the Theories of Social Representations, Media, Domestic Violence and Gender. In order to contemplate the studies, we will present a documentary research carried out in the Center for Assistance to the Family and the Authors of Domestic Violence, a program that serves the population of Brasília, promoted by the Government of the Federal District. We also searched among the specificities and innovations brought by Law nº 11.340 of August 7, 2006, known as the Maria da Penha Law, with this we intend to provoke reflection on the definition, the typifications of domestic and family violence, and how the media – specifically the telenovela - has been working with the theme. To do so, we propose content analysis as a research methodology as an investigation method, as it allows quantifying and qualifying the characteristics of domestic violence experienced by the character of the soap opera “Segundo Sol” in the analyzed scene and in the proposed documentary research. Thus, it allows us to establish a dialogue between the scene and the result of the documentary research of the reception form. Where does it affect that women do not suffer only one type of domestic violence in their relationships with their partner / and or partner, as the research points out that physical violence is generally associated with another type of domestic and family violence such as: psychological, moral and heritage.
