The psychologist in the hospital environment: a multidisciplinary and sensitive perspective

Abstract

When talking about Hospital Psychology, it is important to emphasize that the psychologist must be attentive and able to be the receptacle of the most diverse narratives contained in this context, narratives marked by fears, uncertainties and anxieties associated or not with illnesses. This research aims to present, through a bibliographical review, albeit briefly, the possibilities and contributions of the psychologist's work in the hospital area, recognizing the determining role they play in the humanization process regarding patient care, which extends by looking, perceptions and postures taken by the multidisciplinary team, favoring the establishment of a collaborative relationship in favor of maintaining the well-being and dignity of the patient who is undergoing treatment. It was identified that understanding the daily life of this professional and the articulations established with the multidisciplinary team favors interventions and management in care directed to the patient and their family, showing that maintaining a sensitive, empathetic and listening posture contributes to the construction of a more humanized process, investing in the preservation of human dignity and maintenance of mental and emotional well-being.
